A close, carefully controlled encounter with eagles, hawks and owls—combining live flight, natural-history interpretation, audience participation and the ancient cultural meanings carried by birds of prey.
A little owl stands above the owl of Athena on a reconstructed shield: living bird, civic emblem and one of the most enduring visual identities of ancient Athens brought together in a single Archaeopolis interpretation.

The Hawk Experience brings audiences into direct contact with trained birds of prey through supervised demonstrations. The programme makes anatomy, flight, hunting behaviour and the relationship between bird and handler visible at human scale.
For Archaeopolis, the encounter also opens a historical path. The eagle carried ideas of sovereignty and divine power; the owl became inseparable from Athena and Athens. These meanings are introduced through living observation rather than treated as abstract symbols.
The surviving archive records programmes for children and families, open-air flight demonstrations, guided participation, close observation and television filming.

An eagle intercepts
a drone in flight.
In this short Archaeopolis demonstration record, a trained eagle intercepts a drone. The sequence reveals the speed, targeting ability and decisive grip of a large raptor. It is presented as archive evidence of a controlled professional demonstration, not as an activity for unsupervised imitation.
