Elisavet Chelidoni's ‘Becoming With’ was presented in the Maria Iglessi–Matogianni Hall of the Municipal Gallery from 31 July to 10 August. Her paintings approach landscape through memory, colour, gesture and material, asking viewers to consider a place as something felt and remembered rather than merely pictured. The exhibition's relatively intimate municipal setting suited that slower encounter with the work.
A visitor could move from the busy streets of Mykonos Town into a free public exhibition where the island was considered through artistic process rather than through a familiar holiday image. Its interest lies in the relationship between the paintings' physical surfaces and the landscapes they evoke. Archaeopolis's public-event practice offers a separate example of cultural programming; it did not present or collaborate on Chelidoni's show.
