The ninth Mykonos Biennale used ‘The Amphibian’ as its 2025 theme and spread its programme across several island locations. The announced events included short-film screenings, sculpture, participatory activity and encounters in Mykonos Town, rather than placing every work inside a single exhibition room. The programme's use of open-air and public settings made the island itself part of the way a visitor discovered the work.
The central late-September days connected a welcome at Ano Mera, screenings and gatherings with a planned Delos excursion whose operation depended on conditions. That mixture of fixed cultural moments and movement between places is closer to a festival journey than a conventional gallery visit. Archaeopolis's public cultural productions can be read alongside it as a different practice in site-responsive programming; the Biennale was organised independently.

Experience-production note
Its relevance lies in the use of multiple non-standard settings rather than in a single gallery presentation. Art, film, ritual, reception and island movement are assembled as one distributed cultural format.
