Private Ancient Greek Birthday Dinner at Dionysos Zonar’s
A bespoke birthday dinner overlooking the Acropolis, designed as a complete encounter with Ancient Greek table culture: a documented multi-course menu, reconstructed ceramics, historical drinks, live music and mythological performance.
Private commission at Dionysos Zonar’s
Archaeopolis contribution
What we delivered.
01
One private world
Archaeopolis conceived the evening as a private world rather than a themed restaurant meal. The commission joined menu research, culinary direction, reconstructed material culture, guest-facing interpretation, live music and choreographed performance in a single narrative shaped around a birthday gathering.
02
Research into hospitality
Georgios Katsos developed the historical framework, selected and named the food-and-drink sequence, coordinated the symposium experience and connected each course with the social language of ancient hospitality. The menu moved from akratisma and specially designed breads to pulses, cheese, greens, salted fish, a richly seasoned chicken-and-wheat main course, fruit-and-honey desserts and a reconstructed birthday ammilos.
03
The table as material culture
The table was staged with handmade ceramic cups, jugs, serving dishes and wooden utensils. Hydromel, a grain-and-herb Hippocratic drink, a milk-and-honey preparation and honeyed wine extended the interpretation beyond food into the drinking culture of the symposium.
04
Performance among the guests
Live musicians and performers moved through the dining room with reconstructed instruments, costume, dance and mythological scenes. Because the performance occurred among the guests, the transition from dinner to spectacle felt continuous and intimate rather than programmed as a separate show.
05
A format designed to travel
This case demonstrates a repeatable premium format for private celebrations, cultural hospitality, villas, yachts and destination dining: Archaeopolis can research, design and produce the entire experience, then adapt the scale, menu, material culture and performance language to the host, venue and guests.
