Alexander & Hellenistic
A six-part Netflix docudrama combines historical interpretation, expert interviews and archaeology to follow Alexander’s rise.

The production story
Created by Lucy van Beek and co-produced by Lion TV and Tailfeather Productions, the series follows Alexander’s transformation from a young Macedonian ruler into a conqueror confronting Darius III. Tony Mitchell is the showrunner; Buck Braithwaite plays Alexander and Mido Hamada plays Darius.
Dramatised scenes sit alongside academic contributions and archaeological investigation, including work in Alexandria led by Calliope Limneos-Papakosta. Netflix released the series on 31 January 2024. This completed production belongs to the Archive and is separate from Jacob Tierney’s announced Alexander series.
Known filming locations
Lion TV identifies archaeological work in Alexandria, Egypt, as part of the documentary. The reviewed official pages do not establish a complete itinerary for the dramatised shoot.
