The production story

The three-part series investigates the figure of the “barbarian” as a cultural and political construction. Its episodes consider the outsider as supposedly uncivilised, as an enemy and as unfree, drawing on Homer, historians, philosophy and tragedy.

COSMOTE lists Greeks and Barbarians as a 2023 series. EQVUS supplies the director and three-part structure under the expanded title Greeks and Barbarians: Mirrors of Self and Other in Antiquity. These are treated as one production record, not two titles to count separately.
