Translate rather than imitate
A credible cultural concept identifies the values, behaviours and material references relevant to the brief. Hospitality, dialogue, athletic practice, craft or maritime exchange may offer a stronger starting point than familiar decorative symbols.
Connect the audience to the idea
Live making, historical tasting, guided handling, music, movement and collaborative challenges can turn a brand message into a memorable shared action. The level of participation should reflect the audience and occasion.
Build one production language
Scenography, objects, costume, live programming and guest touchpoints need a shared visual and narrative system. Archaeopolis can lead this creative historical layer while coordinating with the client’s agency, planner, venue and technical team.
Worked example: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in Greece
For the 2018 Ubisoft programme, the published Archaeopolis case documents historical gastronomy, traditional archery, ancient physical culture, eagle-flight demonstrations and reconstructed equipment, costume and performance. Its record includes two historical menus delivered on 18 and 20 September. These are concrete forms of participation connected to the historical world of the game.
The useful design idea is the relationship between activities: food makes material culture approachable through taste, guided equipment use brings movement and handling into the encounter, and performers connect objects to people. The case archive lets a prospective client see those elements in practice. It does not establish a measured marketing return or imply that every programme element was suitable for every guest.
Apply the example to a new corporate brief
Begin with the audience and the purpose of the gathering. Select the activities that genuinely express the chosen subject, then check space, supervision, guest participation and the time available. A historical tasting and an equipment demonstration have different operating needs; they should not be added to a programme as interchangeable entertainment.
For a contemporary brand, the next step is a proposed programme with a clear role for each encounter. Use the Ubisoft case as evidence of specific work Archaeopolis has delivered, while agreeing the scope of the new commission on its own terms. The released campaign film confirms the finished promotional production; the detailed Archaeopolis contribution is documented through its project archive and founder confirmation.
Evidence sets the boundaries. Production gives the encounter its life.
Editorial standard: this article distinguishes broad historical evidence from Archaeopolis production practice. Specific dates, artefacts and quotations will only be added with named sources.
